I am a Psychodynamic Counsellor and psychotherapist working in community counselling clinics, the NHS and in private practice. I have additional specialist experience of working with women during pregnancy and postnatally.
My practice is psychoanalytically orientated, a model that addresses underlying issues and causes, often from your past, which may be affecting your daily life or relationships. Our work together will involve exploring and developing awareness of unconscious patterns and conflicts to open up a different experience of yourself. You will be encouraged to talk freely and to look deeper into your problems and worries, to help relieve troubling symptoms and to engage more creatively with life.
Starting therapy
An initial consultation will look at your current concerns, overall situation and personal experiences. This process will give you the opportunity to explore your feelings about being in therapy and working with me as your therapist.
Qualifications & experience
I am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My training was at Birkbeck in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy, with a foundation certificate from the Tavistock and Portman Trust. The psychodynamic model is derived from the psychoanalytic traditions of Freud, Klein, Bion, Winnicott and the British Object Relations School. My practice is shaped by a psychosocial perspective, an understanding of the interplay between psychic and social reality. I have a particular interest in institutional life and organisational dynamics. A systems psychodynamics perspective informs my consultancy work in the cultural sector.
