My approach
Counselling with me is centred on bringing forth your experiences and working to understand together how you perceive and understand them. I’m guided by the principle that your experience is yours and is not mine to fix - but by getting to know you, I can offer new ideas, different perspectives and challenges to existing patterns. Together we then see what lands with you and what does not resonate.
The getting to know you part is important. It is through developing our relationship that I am best able to offer thoughts that might appeal and make sense to you. Further, it allows us to examine our own relationship, so that it also contributes to shedding light on your experiences.
Fundamentally, I provide a place to be truly and deeply heard without judgement. My goal is for you to feel comfortable enough to explore the uncomfortable things that bring you to therapy.
I work both in-person and online.
About Me
Before training as a counsellor and psychotherapist, I spent nearly 20 years in the business world, primarily running my own companies. It was the right time for me to leave that life behind, but it was an invaluable experience that taught me a lot. It allowed me to live and work around the world, make plenty of mistakes, learn from wonderful people and it led me to what I do today.
I have worked as a therapist for seven years now, in private practice and at an in-patient addiction treatment centre. I have a diploma in cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy, a post-graduate diploma in integrative psychotherapy and counselling, and a Master’s degree in existential psychotherapy and counselling.
