My approach
I have been practising as a psychotherapist for many years. Prior to that, I worked in the psychiatric services-NHS and privately- holding various clinical specialist roles. I work with individual clients and couples, on short term and long-term basis. I have a particular interest in working with people who are experiencing relational issues, and those who experienced adverse childhood experiences, and other “traumatic” life events that they have not fully addressed, therefore impacting on them psychologically, socially, and relationally.
My training to become a psychotherapist was stimulated by my fundamental belief in the therapeutic effects of talking therapies, which occurs through having reflective dialogue in a safe environment, and the experience of deeply connecting on a human level. I have had the privilege of helping people who are experiencing a broad range of difficulties, both acute and longstanding. My belief in the therapeutic benefits of psychotherapy has been reinforced by seeing many people I have worked with leave therapy feeling profoundly wholesome, and starting to live their lives more meaningfully.
Practicing in the busy, diverse, and pluralistic city of London, I offer a "City Sanctuary" which is a safe space for reflection, working through, healing, and growth.
Qualifications & experience
My core training is Psychodynamic, holding Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice, and Psychoanalytic Clinical Practice respectively. I also hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and an Advanced Diploma in Couples Therapy. I am recognised by the NCPS as a Relationship/Couples Therapist. The depth and breadth of my training and clinical practice is enriching to my practice as it means that I can tailor my clients' work to suit their needs, using various approaches, and l can work with couples as well as individual clients.
Apart from practicing as a psychotherapist, I am a Lecturer at Birkbeck University of London, teaching on the MSc in Psychodynamic and Psychotherapy Course.
